Tim Gage is an accomplished attorney, and former senior vice president with extensive experience in government and regulatory affairs, political strategy, public affairs, franchising, community investment, philanthropy, external communication, and public relation in the telecommunications industry.
A longtime executive at Comcast NBCUniversal, Tim is an innovative and strategic thinker, with serial success developing, managing, and implementing government public affairs and regulatory compliance strategies and policies on a national level. In his most recent role, Tim was Senior VP of Government and Regulatory Affairs, he led a team of external affairs experts, focused on government, political, public relations, DE&I, community impact, and corporate communications ensuring alignment of key business goals and leaning into the evolving digital equity and inclusive initiatives. Tim also organized a thematic and integrated outreach strategy for lawmakers, government officials, staff, and third-party stakeholders in the industry. He set the tone for governmental strategies to support financial execution and P&L performance.
As the VP of Government Affairs at Comcast (2002-2010), Tim ensured business and employee compliance with all applicable legal standards and internal ethics requirements. He was the Division lead lobbyist and was responsible for regulatory, policy, political, third-party, and communications. He and his team developed and executed integrated advocacy messaging to be used thematically and directed all legislative activity to maintain continuity of messaging across stakeholder groups. He also initiated partnerships with Federal Government Affairs Team analyzed and monitored legislation, regulations, and political activities relating to issues that may impact key business areas.
He was also VP, Franchising and Government and Legal Affairs at AT&T Broadband (2001-2002), responsible for driving regulatory, franchising, and public policy matters in the Atlanta markets. As Director of Legal and Government Affairs (1999-2001) he was responsible for Northeast Region government affairs matters and operating authority and corporate contract negotiations. Tim served as Director of Legal and Government Affairs for AT&T Broadband and MediaOne in the Northeast Region.
Before joining the cable industry in 1998, Tim was Assistant District Attorney for Norfolk County, Massachusetts in the office of District Attorney and former United States Congressman William Delahunt, where he was responsible for prosecution and trial of criminal matters. Tim also practiced law with the Boston law firm of Crowley, Considine and Dray where he specialized in the areas of civil litigation and real estate. He also worked as Legislative Aide/Counsel in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and served five years as an elected Planning Commissioner in Massachusetts.
Tim has significant non-profit board experience and has served as Chairman of The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy; Board Member of Piedmont Park Conservancy, Atlanta; Advisory Board Member of Justice for Women; Board Member and Chair of Volunteer USA. He has also chaired several industry trade organizations over the course of his career.
Tim graduated cum laude from Suffolk University School of Management in Boston, Massachusetts, with a B.S. degree in finance and banking and received his Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University School of Law. He is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar.
